As WSJ and MoneyBeat have written on a number occasions in recent weeks, 2016 has not been kind to financial stocks.

The S&P 500 Financials Sector is currently down 13.18% this year and down 18.85% since a 52-week high hit in late July. The selloff in financials has spared few of the sector’s stocks. Of its 90 members, only nine are in the black this year. Of the firms that are up, seven are real-estate investment trusts, and the other two are Intercontinental Exchange Inc. and Nasdaq Inc.
